ams OSRAM International Scholarship Programme

This program is offered in collaboration with the Penang Skills Development Center (PSDC)

Introduction

You want to develop and improve production systems in an international environment? You want to combine a well-founded German education in mechanical engineering with current knowledge concerning digital production and industry 4.0 as well as skills for international project management and communication?

The study direction International Project Engineering of the study course Mechanical Engineering offers a unique combination of engineering skills with management abilities, digital production capacities and international communication qualification, which are an important aspect of modern industrial and engineering practice.

Graduates will be able to deal with complex issues in the field of digital production and have the qualities and transferable skills necessary for employment requiring these aspects.

The programme

First two semesters

Basic principles of mechanical engineering at RWU, Germany.

Third semester

Practical semester at ams OSRAM, Penang.

Fourth semester

Digital production and Industry 4.0 at PSDC, Penang.

Fifth and sixth semester

Electives in engineering and management topics at RWU, Germany.

Seventh semester

Bachelor thesis (final year project) at ams OSRAM, Penang.

Upon completing the above seven semesters, students will receive an internationally recognised Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree issued by RWU.

Learning German

All compulsory lectures at RWU will be taught in English with the exception of “Introduction production technology”, which will be taught bilingually in German and English.

Students will also take compulsory German language classes “Deutsch als Fremdsprache” up to level B2. German language classes will be offered at RWU. You will not need to learn German prior to starting your semester at RWU.

Scholarship

Successful applicants will be offered a partial scholarship by ams OSRAM based on prevailing terms & conditions.

The scholarship will cover 75% of the total education cost. It is estimated to be approx. RM150,000.

Requirements

Candidates must have completed a recognised pre-university qualification such as A Level or STPM. The pre-university should be completed in 2022 or 2023. Do check the additional requirements below.

A Level

Minimum C for each of the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • One science subject (e.g. Computer Science, Information Technology or Chemistry)

Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM)

Minimum CGPA 3.00 and have the following subjects:

  • Mathematics/Further Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry

Australian Year 12 (Ausmat /WACE, SACE, HSC)

Minimum ATAR 78.96 and have the following subjects:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • 2 other relevant subjects

Language requirement

TOEFL (iBT with a total score of at least 70 out of 120) or IELTS (with a minimum overall band score of 6.0).
